Brooklyn Peltz-Beckham and his wife Nicola are reportedly prepared to mend their rift with his parents, David and Victoria, on one condition.
The young couple appear to have been at odds with his mum and dad for months, having consistently snubbed major family occasions, including David's 50th birthday celebration and his knighthood ceremony. Despite the Beckham parents reportedly trying to build bridges, David and Victoria were believed to have been entirely excluded from their son's life.
The dispute is understood to have originated following an alleged row between Nicola and Victoria. Various accounts have emerged about what transpired, but many believe the pair clashed after Nicola opted for Valentino for her wedding gown rather than a creation from her mother-in-law's fashion label. Alternative reports suggest it was Victoria who withdrew from designing the dress.
Speaking to the Mail, a source revealed there had "been a war" since the nuptials, explaining: "It's always been a tug of war about Brooklyn, and Victoria has not wanted to let go", reports the Mirror.
Whilst the family maintained a united front immediately after the wedding, tensions were understood to have steadily escalated, eventually resulting in a complete breakdown of relations.
An insider has suggested that a public apology from David and Victoria Beckham could be the first step towards mending the reported rift with their son Brooklyn's in-laws.
The source stated: "There is an obvious first step which would be a public acknowledgement [by David and Victoria] of what they did, and an apology. It cannot be a performative thing. There is no realistic chance of a reconciliation without that happening first."
The source also claimed that the feud was instigated by David and Victoria, who allegedly "thought they could heap abuse on Nicola" without any repercussions from her or her husband.
Despite the ongoing speculation, neither David nor Victoria have publicly addressed the feud.
