David Beckham Reveals the Quirky Bedroom Habit from His Playing Days That Victoria Absolutely Hated

Sir David Beckham has shared a hilarious insight into one of his old football rituals that used to drive his wife Victoria up the wall – wearing his new boots to bed to break them in properly.

The 50-year-old football legend, who co-owns clubs including Inter Miami and Salford City, made the confession during a light-hearted interview on Salford City's official YouTube channel following their recent win over Swindon Town.

Recounting his ultra-disciplined approach as a player, Beckham explained how he went to extreme lengths to ensure his footwear felt perfect on the pitch. "Back in the day, you'd get a new pair of boots and they'd be quite stiff," he said with a grin. "So you'd bend them, throw them around a little bit, then put them on and wear them. Wear them around the bedroom... don't do it anymore obviously."

He added: "If I was wearing a new pair of boots, I used to wear 'em in... in bed. I'd try not to fall asleep but would fall asleep sometimes wearing the boots. Just so they'd mould a little bit. Every now and again for Victoria, y'know [laughs]."

The revelation highlights Beckham's legendary professionalism during his glittering career at clubs like Manchester United, Real Madrid, and AC Milan, where every detail mattered – even if it meant muddy studs on the sheets at home.

Victoria, 51, has long been accustomed to her husband's football obsession, but this particular habit clearly tested her patience. The couple, married since 1999, have always been candid about the little irritations in their otherwise rock-solid relationship.

In the same interview, Beckham also admitted he still loves having football matches on in the background at home – even when he's not fully watching. "There's just something... even if it's on in the background, I love it," he said. "Victoria hates it. But she hates the fact that when I've got the football on in the background, she's like, 'You're not even watching it.' I'm like, 'Yeah, but...'"

The former England captain insisted he no longer takes his boots to bed these days, but the anecdote offers a charming glimpse into the quirks that have kept their 26-year marriage so enduringly entertaining.

Fans have lapped up the story, with many praising the Beckhams for keeping things real after all these years in the spotlight. As one of the world's most famous couples, their playful banter continues to prove that even superstars have the same domestic niggles as everyone else – just with a touch more glamour (and the occasional pair of football studs under the covers).
